Writer's Block: Winter wonderland
1. No. I pretty much never long for snow. I don't mind the cold as long as I have a way to be warm, but snow? Not so much. Not any, actually. Well, okay, maybe Christmas eve. But that's it. 2. I'd rather spend my holidays with my family and friends. The location is honestly irrelevant. There should, however, be food. In other news, I might not get home from work tonight because of the impending snowstorm (see #1). *packs jammies* I also will not be able to take Amelia for the day tomorrow like I was going to do. Or go to church. Grr. And also Brr. Current Mood: hungry |

Lots of excitement...
... here tonight. First I had the RCMP stake-out one of our rooms, followed by a man fleeing the scene. He got caught a bit later while his accomplice got handcuffed and lead out the door. Now the RCMP is waiting for a search warrant... TBC Current Mood: discontent |

Flist, I have a Question!
I want to buy a due South DVD set as a gift for a non-LJ friend. Which version is the best? I have what I think is the US version (not sure 'cause I got it as a gift), but they're not widescreen, and I'd like to give her the widescreen version. Extras would be nice, but not necessary. I'm more looking for recording quality and widescreen format. Amazon and its competitors haven't been too helpful. It's either the US one which is pan-and-scan, or the Canadian one, which is completely out of my price range (and also not widescreen, I think). Why the Canadian one would be more than the US one is beyond me, but be that as it may. Another choice would be to buy each season separately, but I don't think that's going to be cheap, either. Help? :) *goes back to finishing up DSSS, last minute as usual. Hey, it's a tradition!* Current Mood: curious |

I don't want to do this anymore. Senate FAIL. Also, Joe Lieberman is an idiot. Since I'm a Red Sox fan AND a politics junkie AND an activist, I don't get discouraged easily. This bill was never enough, never perfect, because it couldn't be --not yet, anyway-- and still have a chance of passing. But I had such hopes for it, that it was a baby step that could start my country on the road to something better, someday. We're going to get a healthcare bill, all right, but with its life almost all the way sucked out. I'm starting to believe that there's no way ANYTHING productive can get through the propaganda and the posturing and the fearmongering. I guess I'll keep railing against it, because for the time being, anyway, I have no bloody choice. Current Mood: disappointed |

Discovered, \o/
Kara's brother, at least one of them:), Koda. The shelter named him Dodi. Like Kara was Dora before. Kind of funny - both got changed to K, and they really do look alike - both can't sit straight, ::giggles::. Koda, though, seems less Husky. He didn't put on much of a winter coat while Kara looks like -50 degrees won't impress her at all.
( meet Koda )
It's wonderful to find out what became at least of one of Kara's litter mates. Current Mood: amused |

whoever said life is fair was lying. the same goes for lightning never striking twice.
This afternoon I found Natalie on the bathroom floor. I don't know if she was having a seizure or a heart attack or what, but one thing she wasn't doing was breathing. I'm pretty sure she wasn't choking on anything because I swept her mouth and didn't find anything, and she didn't even gag. I rushed her out the door and into the car, but she was gone before we reached the emergency vet. I think she was gone before I got her out the door. This wasn't the sad but somehow peaceful scene like what happened with Stormy--this was sudden and unexpected and there was no time to say goodbye. Up to then Nat had been fine-- eating and sleeping and meowing and being herself. She may have been a tiny bit quieter today, but I'm just guessing, who knows? The vet at the emergency place said they couldn't tell what happened, but it could have been anything from a seizure to heart failure. It was over in seconds, and I have no idea how or why and I probably never will. I could have asked for an autopsy, but what would be the point? I keep feeling guilty even though I know I'm being stupid because she was loved and fed and petted and cared for. And now I've lost two cats in less than a week. WTF, God? I can't remember a time when there wasn't a cat in my life. Current Mood: crushed |
